MettaKnowledge for Peace merges current understandings from the western sciences and humanities of the effects of trauma, violence and conflict on the body, mind and emotions with spiritual understandings of the human journey from diverse traditions around the world, including the new shamanism. This work includes teaching and learning in a variety of contexts:
- One-one client healing sessions.
- Workshops for healing from trauma, personal growth, and spiritual discovery.
- Workshops and tailored on-site trainings on compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma for educators, activists and other professionals working with the many problems of human and animal suffering.
- Lectures on topics related to compassion fatigue, spirituality and healing violence, the challenges of the new spiritual path, the new shamanism in the West, the adaptation of earth-centered spirituality into mainstream settings, and others.
- Development of curricula for undergraduate courses on the topics of the new shamanism, Gandhi and active non-violence, and race, gender, religion and identity in the 21st century.
MettaKnowledge for Peace also brings teachers and writers doing good work to Central Virginia and the East Coast, including such well-respected people as Trishuwa, Martin Prechtel, Jon Turk, Rainbow Eagle, and Bradford Keeney.
